Rumours from the Plains.

(from OUR- correspondent.) Hawera, Wednesday. Rumours are floating that the Maoris are getting very cheeky on the Plains, and beyond. Some /teamsters have lost their bullocks, and the Maoris refuse to give them up, I also hear that Mr Treweek has lost a good* many sheep and cattle by their hands. Others say To Whiti has called a council together to discuss matters, but I cannot hear whether there is any foundation in fact for such rumour. Naturally, at this critical time, whatsoever the Maoris do is likely to be exaggerated or misinterpreted.
