Ml!. GLADSTONE’S MINISTRY. London, April 28. The following further appointments to the Gladstone Ministry are announced : —Earl Kimberley, Secrota-y of State for the Colonies; Earl Spencer, Lord President of Council; and the Duke of Argyle, Lord Privy Seal. Sir Charles Dilke is appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs; Mr G. Shaw Lefevro, becomes Secretary to the Adnv'ralty; the Hon, W. P. Adam, Commissioner for Public Works and Buildings. Mr Chamberlaine will also enter the Government. The Right Hon John Bright has been appointed Chancellor of ‘the Duchy of Lancaster, the office which he held in the last Gladstone admiu'stration. Other appointments are:—SirWilliam Vernon Harcourt becomes Secretary of State for the Home Department, and and thf> Duke of Argyle fills the position of Lord President of the Council. ORIENT S.S. COMPANY. London, April 28. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Orient Steamship Company was held to-day, when a dividend of 5 percent. was declared, in addition to G per cent carried to the reserve fund. The chairman made a speech, in which he stated that all the company’s steamers would shortly be filled with cold-air machinery for carrying meat on freight for all-comers, like ordinary cargo. Ho also stated it was the intention of the company to increase the capital to £1,000,000.
