PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.
Tun monthly meeting of the above Board was held at Kakaramea, on Monday last. Present—Messrs Mcßae (chairman), Napier, Taylor, Paterson, Chapman, Campbell, and Mar chant. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Correspondence read. Letter from T. White, Esq., Acting Secretary School Reserve Commissioners, Taranaki, stating that the Commissioners had no objection to the proposed deviation of Garsed Road, but they would expect to receive the old road in lien of the land taken for the now one, or an equivalent in money ; letter from W. Walsh, informing the Board that he considered he had taken contract on Taimmha Road below Us value, and that he did not intend to proceed with
the work ; letter from Minister Public Works, re the deviation of Lower Kakararrtea Road ; letter from Chairman Hawera Road' Board, stilling that the Board were willing to maintain that portion of the Ingahape Road from the Mtun Road to the bridge. Proposed by Mr Chapman, seconded by Mr Napier, “ That the memorial read by the Secretary to be sent to Llis Excellency the Governor re the deviation of Lower Kakaramca Road, be approved of. add that the seal of the Board lie now affixed to it.”—Carried. Proposed by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Paterson, and curried, “ That this Board hand over to the Hawera Raid Board that portion of the Ingahape Road between tlie Main road and the Ingahape bridge, on condition that they maintain the same.” i Proposed by Mr Campbell, seconded by Mr Chapman, and carried, “That Messrs Ridley and Anion’s tender fur works on Tamnaba Road, £37 ss, be accepted.” Resolved, That the Board are quite willing to band over to the School Reserve Commission that portion of Garscd Road which will be dosed when the new road is finished. Proposed by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Campbell, and carried, “ That Messrs Fraser & Tregoar be instructed to prepare plans of Wilson Road deviation, and that the Secretary take the necessary steps to legalise the same.” Resol veil, That MrCampbell be authorised to get repairs done onTuumaha Road, near Manutahi Hotel. Accounts passed for payment —Drummond & Alexander, £l3 ‘2s fid. The meeting then adjourned.
