CARLYLE TOWN BOARD.

Title monthly meeting of the above Hoard was held on Monday hast. Present; .Messrs Milroy (chairman), Aitchison, Hewitt, Dale, and O’Sullivan. Minutes of previous meeting read and conlirmed. Works Committee (Messrs Aitchison and Miiroy) reported 1 hat dining the month day labor amounting to £4 18s KM bad been employed in cutting thistles and clearing roads throughout the township; also that (lie sum of AG 8s 7d had been expended in forming a footpath on south side of NorFolk-street, from Taranaki Pond to Kent-strect.

The Inspector of Nuisances reported dial; 27 horses and d head cattle had been impounded by the police off tho public streets during the month. A letter was read from J. Milroy, asking permission to use a portion of the footpaths in Taranaki Road, Cambridge and Dorsetstreets, while the erection of a building was being proceeded with.—Complied with. The following tenders were received— Forming Taranaki Road (north side): J. Keys, £1 Gs Gd per chain (accepted) ; J. Quinlivan, £2 per chain. Forming footpath and roadway in Bed ford-street ; J. Keys, £2 per chain (accepted) ; T. Quinlivan, £o 10s per chain. Proposed by Mr Dale, seconded by Mr Hovvitt, and carried, “That, the Public Works Committee cal! and accept tenders for forming Taranaki Road (south side), from Combridge-slreet to Staticrd-street.” It was also resolved that, the Committee accept tenders for works the Board had authorised to be done.

Proposed by Mr Aitcluson, seconded by Mr Milroy, and carried, “That the Valuation Roll for 1880-81, be open for inspection at the Court House, Carlyle, in terms of the Rating 1 Act, 1876.” Proposed by Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Dale, and carried, “ That a letter be written to the County Council, asking to have the remaining portion of footpaths in main road throughout the township declared.” Accounts passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
