WAVERLEY.

(From our own Correspondent.) Things here* daring the week, were very quiet until Saturday morning, when an accident occurred by which a native women, named Mareu, of Waitotara, wife of one of the chiefs of that place, lost her life. It appears that on that morning a party of natives were going from Whenuakura to Waitotara, in a dray, and when near Syme’s corner* the horse bolted, throwing the woman out of the cart. She appears lo_ have fallen on her head, for she was insensible when picked up. The natives took her back to Whenuakura, where she died cm Sunday morning.
