The sale appeared to come at a bad time, for very few people have the money to speculate, and most people thought that the upset prices were too high.

A rifle match was fired at the Hawera range, on Saturday, between the Cavalry and No. 1 Company Infantry Volunteers. I can’t give yon the exact scores, but I know the Cavalry were victorious by a good number ol points. The match between the Patea and Hawera Cavalry Corps was fired on Monday at the Hawera range. The morning was rather unpleasant, a cold wind blowing, with rain at intervals. The visitors were beaten by 48 points. The following are the scores: Hawera.
