PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Town Hall, Kakaramea, on Monday last. Present—Messrs Marchantj Napier, Paterson; Campbell, and Chapman. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr Marchant was voted to the chair. - ' Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. . Letter and telegram from Treasury re deferred payment money ; from Hawera Road Board'and Patea County_ Councih re Ingahape Road ; from District Auditor, requesting the Board to forward its accounts to Wellington for audit ; from Fraser & Tregear, enclosing plans of proposed road deviations ; from Mr W. Foreman, requesting the Board to fall bush standing on road adjoining his property ; letter and telegram from Land Board, Taranaki, approving of proposed expenditure of deferred pajunent money. Mr R. B. Hamilton waited upon the Board, re the expenditure of £25 ordered by the Patea County Council; Proposed by Mr Paterson, seconded by Mr Napier, .and carried, “ That Messrs Marchant & Chaprrian be appointed a committee to attend at the next Council meeting, re the application of the Hawera Road Board, to decide which Road Board shall have the control of that portion ot the Ingahape Road within this road district.” Proposed by Mr Campbell, seconded by Mr Chapman, and carried, “That Messrs Napier and Paterson inspect the Manutahi
Road at the place complained of by Mr R. B. Hamilton, and expend a sum not exceeding £ls, if required.” Proposed by Mr March ant* seconded bj T Mr Campbell, and carried, “That Messrs Paterson and Napier accept tenders for works near Mr Balmforth’s house, on the Manutihi Road."
Proposed by Mr Chapman, seconded by Mr Napier, and carried-, “ That Messrs Marchant and Taylor be authorised to get the bush felled as mentioned in Mr Foreman’s letter.”
Proposed by Mr Cambell, seconded by Mr Marchant, and carried, “ That the question of deviating the Hursthuuae Road stand over for the present;” Proposed by Mr Chapman, seconded by Mr Campbell, and carried, “That the Secretary take the necessary steps to deviate the Taumaha and Gafsed Roads, in accordance with the plans prepared by the Engineer.” Proposed by Mr Marchant, seconded l y Mr Paterson, and carried, “ That the District Auditor he informed that the Board object to forward its vouchers, &c., to Wellington, and inform him that last years accounts have been audited by the auditor appointed under ‘ The Taranaki Roads arid Bridges Ordinance, 1858.’ ” Proposed by Mr Marchant, seconded by Mr Campbell, and carried, “That Messrs Napier and Chapman be appointed a committee to lay off works on Gane Road, and that tenders be sent in by next meeting.” Proposed by Mr Paterson, seconded by Mr Napier, and carried, “That Messrs Marchant and Chapman be appointed a committee to get works done on Ball Road.” Resolved; “ That Messrs Napier and Paterson be a committee to got work done on Hursthonse Road.” Accounts passed for payment— Patea Mail, £2 5s ; G. A. Marchant; £1 2s ; Fraser Tregoar, £6 10s. The meriting then adjourned.
