(Per Press Agency) WELLINGTON. August 15. Mr Quick retires for the Hutt in favor of Mr Mason. The Premier, after leaving Christchurch, goes to Invercargill. Ho is expected to return to Wellington on 31st, and leave almost immediately for North, speaking at Napier, Auckland, and Thames. The report that the five million loan was subscribed has been contradicted. During the quarter ending June, the imports to the colony were valued at £1,791,264 ; corresponding quarter last year, £1,550,273. Exports last quarter, £1,292,580, as against £1,186,412 for corresponding quarter last year. Stamp duty collected in Wellington last year, £53,686. The question raised as to Mr Fisher’s disqualification for election, is likely to be settled by Law Officers of the Crown. V; Charles O’Neil is talked of as another Lcjjndidate for Wellington. Writs for new elections will be issued on Monday. They will be made returnable on 17th or 18th next month, Governor to-day issued a proclamation dissolving Parliament, which is prorogued till Ist September. The City of Sydney, mail steamer, with London mails to the 17th July, left Friso. on 14th instant.
