WAVERLEY.

(From our own Correspondent.) August 12. At a meeting of the Jockey Club held on Saturday, Mr J. Dune occupied the chair. Proposed by Mr J. Chadwick, seconded by Mr Mason, and carried, “ That the Committee appointed at the last meeting having given in the names of intending subscribers, no members be admitted after to-night, except they be proposed by a member and elected at a future meeting.” Proposed by Mr J. Chadwick, seconded by Mr C. Durie, and carried, “ That seven stewards be elected by the present meeting by vote, Secretary and Treasurer to be ex officio members.” The following Stewards were elected : —Messrs G. Ncwland, A. Drake, J. Durie, J. Thurston, W. Brewer, W. Wilson, and J. Hair. Proposed by Mr Durie, seconded by Mr Belcher, and carried, “ That the first meeting of the Waverley-Waitotara Racing Club be held on the 27th November.” Proposed by Mr Ballam, seconded by Mr Taylor, and carried, “ That the rules of the Wanganui Jockey Club be adopted.” Proposed by Mr Chadwick, seconded by Mr Newland, and carried, “ That subscriptions be paid yearly, before the 30th October, and that members failing to pay at that date be not allowed to take part in any of the meetings of the Club, and be liable to be expelled at the option of the Stewards.” The following gentlemen were elected officers:—Judge, Mr D. Hunter; handicapper, Mr Hately; starter, Mr J. Chadwick; clerk of the scales, Mr Mason; clerk of the course, Mr Aiken; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. B. Taylor; bankers, , Bank of Australasia. The following programme was resolved on:— Handicap Hurdles of £4O; 2 miles ; nomination, £1»; acceptance, £2: eight flights of hurdles, 3ft. 9in. high. Hack Hurdles of £lO ; once round the course ; weight not less than 9st. Maiden Plate of £4O ; entrance, £3; miles; weight for age; for horses

Wavorley— Waitotara Handicap of £100; nomination, £2; acceptance, £4 ; 2JL miles ; second horse to receive £ls from the stakes. Consolation of £ls; entrance, £1; once round the course ; handicap. First race to start at 11 a.m. Nominations for Handicap Hurdles, Flying Handicap, and Waverley-Waito-tara Handicap, to be In the hands of the secretary before 8 p.m. on the 20th October. Weights to be declared on the I2th November; acceptances and general entries on the 20th November.
