WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present—Wardens Bridge (chairman), lon, Fleming, and Lupton. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Treasurer’s Balance, £248 2s 9d. Foreman of Works’ report read and received. The Chairman reported having accepted the following tenders, as authorised by resolution at last meeting:—Sanding, &c. (Oika cutting), Robinson, £3 per chain ; earthwork (Palmer’s), Robinson, £ll 19s; gravelling (Palmer’s), Robinson, £3 10s per chain. J. Nicholson wrote, informing the Board that a portion of the road to his land had been damaged by the late rain. Resolved that the Foreman of Works inspect and report to Board. Resolved, That the Foreman of Works inspect damage done to Taylor’s hill and Kauhaki road, and get any urgent repairs required done by day labour. Resolved, That the Foreman of Works report upon the Cemetery road, Dyke’s road, and road between Peat’s and Cheyne’s. Resolved, That Messrs Fleming, Lupton, and Bridge be a committee to accept tenders for repairs to Oika culvert; two to form a quorum. Resolved, That Mr Fleming bo allowed to lift the culvert that crosses the road near Section 279, and lower it at his own cost, provided he does the work to the satisfaction of the Foreman of Works.
