CARLYLE TOWN BOARD.

TiiEordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was tield at the Council Chambers, on Monday evening last. Present: Messrs Milroy (chairman), Aitchison, Dale, Hirst, and Adams. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Correspondence read, which was of a very unimportant nature. Tenders-wcre opened as follows : J, E. Keys, contract No. 8, tor gravelling roadway, £8 2s 6d ; gravelling footpath, £3 7s Gil—accepted. Mouri & Co., contract No; 1, £219 3s 9d —accepted. The tender of J. Hughes was declined. Working Committee reported that day labor to the amount of £5 9s had been expended during the month in clearing drains, spreading gravel, clearing Lincolnstreet as far as Middlesex-street, and in weeding and repairing footpaths. The footpath between Jacomb’s comer and Meredith-atreet had been gravelled at a cost of £ll.

Inspector of Nuisances reported that the dwelling on the river hank had been greatly improved in regard to cleanliness during the past month, and the family that resided in the dwelling with the owner had removed. Five horses had been impounded from off the public thoroughfares during the month, the poundkeeper being answerable to the Board for driving fees.

Abstract of accounts for the month of February, showed Receipts : Balance 29th January, £295 9s 5d ; for six months rent for land leased, £lB Os 6d ; rates, 14s 7£. Total, £314 4s 64. Expenditure: Labor, £4 9s ; timber, £33 3s 2d ; advertising, £3 4s ; Clerk’s salary, £5 6s 6d ; freight on timber, £2 13s Gd ; valuation, &c.. £7 12s ’Gd. Total, £6O 12s. Credit balance, £263 12s G^d. The following accounts were passed for payment—Keys, carting gravel, £ll ; Patea Mail, £2 11s ; G. D. Hamerton, £8 10s ; H. Young, £5 9s ; Winchcomb, 11s. The meeting adjourned.
