He (Captain Wray) argued that they were handed over to him ten years ago.—The Chief Commissioner-. But that was in his official capacity of Commissioner of Confiscated Lands.—Mr Syme :He wants to try and frighten us.—Mr Kelly considered the matter was one which rested between ex-Commissioner Wray and the Government.. The Board might Write to the latter about it,—Mr Standish moved, “That the absence from the Chief Survey Office of the district of the plans of the Patea District is extremely inconvenient, and causes delay in the proceedings of the Waste Lands Board, and that the Chief Surveyor be requested to have such plans kept in the Chief Survey Office at New Plymouth.” Seconded by Mr Syme, and carried.—A letter .. was read from the Chairman of the Patea West Road Board explaining how certain moneys not yet authorised by the Government had been expended on roads by the Board. It was resolved, “"That under the special circumstances set forth in the letter of the 13th instant from the Secretary to the Patea West Road Board, the expenditure and proposed expenditure of moneys incurred is approved of bv this Board, under section sQ.of the ‘ Land Act. 1877.’ ’’—Carried.
