PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held at the Secretary’s office, Carlyle, on Monday last. Present : Rev A. Dasont (chairman), Messrs Derrett, Nicholson, Gower, and Gibson. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Outward and inward correspondence read included—letter from Fraser and Tregear, with plan of proposed roadway through sections 110 to 114 and 122, Whenuakura.

On motion of Mr Gibson, seconded byMr Derrett, it was agreed, That all the members of the Board meet at the bridge on Monday, the 4th November, to consider the plan of proposed road along the river bank, the surveyor also to be present. On motion of Mr Derrett, seconded by Mr Gibson, it was resolved, That the work on Mr Shaw’s road be done by day labor, and that Mr Gower and the mover bo appointed to employ labor and superintend the work.

On motion of Mr Derrctt, seconded by Mr Gibson, The Chairman, Messrs Gibson, Gower, and Derrett were appointed to inspect the road to Otouto and recommend the best line for the surveyor to lay off. On motion of Rev A. Dasent, seconded by Mr Derrctt, The Chairman, and Messrs Derrett, W. Gower, and Gibson, were instructed to employ labor to render the present siding formed by the Board last year leading to the Otouto reserve through Mr Bremer’s property available for dray traffic. Also to effect any repairs required on Little Taranaki Road. On motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Derrett, it was resolved, That the surveyors bo instructed to lay off road as selected in Reserve No. 3, the secretary to call for tenders in time for consideration at next meeting.

Statement of accounts for September showed:—Receipts—Balance on Ist September, £69 6s Bd. Expenditure during month —£7 16s Bd, leaving a balance of £6l 10s.

Account passed—J. Kenworthy, 3s. Notice of motion was given by Mr Nicholson for next meeting—“ That the Board plough and form road as far as gate, also to make a side cutting so as to meet the Waverley Road Board to the province line.” The meeting adjourned.
