OPUNAKE. October 8. Hiroki was seen on Sunday in a clearing inland at Kaupokonni. He tried to fire on the party, but bis gun missed fire. He was within fifteen yards of Katenc, who fired, and is supposed to have shot Hiroki. The ball went through his mat and shawl. Mat and cap were brought to Oso by Blake’s party'. The cap was identified as McLean’s. W. Williams (Interpreter) and Hone Pihama and Blake’s party have been out all day in the bush at Oeo. But saw so tracks. They think that he is wounded and cannot travel.
