PATEA HARBOR BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held in the Council Buildings, Carlyle, on Monday last. Present— Messrs Sherwood (chairman), Milroy, Taj.iin, Gibson,Winchcomb, Williamson, and Bridge. Minutes of last ordinary and of two special meetings read and confirmed. A mass of inward and outward correspondence was read and disposed of. On motion of Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Williamson, it was unanimously resolved, “ That this Board approve of the action taken by the chairman in endeavouring to obtain the Carlyle R.M. reserve for Harbor improvements, and that immediate possession be taken as an office.”
On motion of Mr Sherwood, seconded by Mr Taplin, it was unanimously resolved, “ That the Harbour Board’s reserves within the town above the bridge be submitted to auction in one month.”
Proposed by Mr Taplin, seconded by Mr Winchcomb, and lost on division, That section No. 132, Whonuakura, be sub divided into building sites of a size to bo determined by a committee appointed for that purpose.” Ayes—3. Noes—4. Amendment byMr Milroy, seconded by Mr Williamson, was also lost on division, “ That before any action be taken to sub-divide any of the Harbor reserves the Board meet and examine the land.” Ayes—2. Noes—s. On motion of Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Winchcomb, it was unanimously resolved, “ That a special meeting of the Board be convened for Thursday, the 11th instant, at Mr Coutts’ gate, at 10 a.m., for the purpose of examining the land about to be dealt with, and for fixing upset prices of same.” ‘ , Motion by Mr Gibson, seconded by Mr Bridge, “That the special meeting of the Board on Thursday, the 11th instant, take into consideration the providing of suitable wharf accommodation, and other matters connected therewith.” Carried.
On motion of Mr Milroy, seconded by Mr Taplin, it was unanimously resolved, That the chairman should be requested to proceed to Wellington shortly, for the purpose of furthering the interests of the Board in respect of Amended Harbor Bill and other matters. At the same time to procure a fire proof safe. Accounts were passed, and the meeting adjourned,'
