WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was ■'held' on Saturday last. Present: Messrs Bridge (chairman), lon, Lnpton, Fleming, and McLean. Minutes of previous meeting, and of special meeting hold on 22nd June, read and confirmed. Treasurer's Balance, Dr., £3 IBs.'

Permission was granted to Mr Axup' to erect gate near the Wairoa Stream. Permission to erect gate near Recreation Ground, was granted to Messrs Morton and Lnpton, Mr Watkin asked for permission to erect a gate across the road leading from the school, towards his house —■ the Board was unable to grant the request, work haying been done on the road. Mr D.' Fleming applied for permission to put a gate opposite section 351—consideration cleferred one month. •

Resolved, That Mr lon report on the Nicholson Road, at next meeting of the Board. It was resolved that tenders tor the diversion of the Kohi Stream should be called in time to be considered at next meeting.

Accounts were passed for payment as follows—Duncan and York, £5 12s5d; Hogan and Delaney, 19s 6d ; P. Elmsloy, £lO 4s 2d ; W. Davis, £2B ; M. ■Keting, £lO 12s ; Fraser and Tregear, £ls 13s; Ureslan, 8s; E. Ross, £l2 6s.

On the 22nd June, a special meeting of the Board was held in reference to the Kohi Bridge, when it was resolved to accept the offer of Mr Walkinton, to allow the Board to divert the stream through his land, for £4, with a view of bringing the stream straighter towards the bridge.

It was also resolved that the proposed new channel should be six feet wide at bottom, and have a'batter of two inches to the foot, Messpsylon and McLean to prepare specihcatibns for the approaches, and for cutting the new channel, and to present the same at ordinary meeting of the Board to bo held 6th July, to enable tenders to be called.
