PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held at Kakararaea on Monday last, all the members being present. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Messrs Williamson and Hawken interviewed the Board with reference to works on Spence Road, and asked tor permission to erect gate on said road.Mr Ball attended to complain of pigs destroying the road leading to his place. Mr Wilson interviewed the Board in reference to work on Wilson Road.

It was* resolved lhat letters' from Messrs Robertson, Wright, McCarty, and Warren,as to improvementsrequir d near their respective properties should stand over until estimates had been prepared. . a Proposed by Mr March ant, seconded by Mr Napier, and carried, “That the offer of Messrs * Fraser ami put Clifford's contract right when, fine weather sets in, be accepted.” Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Hamilton, and carried, “ That the Chairman,and Messrs Pa terson( Carlyle), and Napier, be appointed a committee to inspect the upper Kakanmica road contract with Mr Fraser.” Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Paterson (Carlyle), and carried, “ That in the opinion of this meeting it is advisable for this Board to inspect the various roads before passing the estimates for the year.” Proposed by Mr Hamilton, seconded by Mr Peacock, and lost, “ That all rates be spent on roads (when required) in the locality in which they are collected.” An amendment was moved by Mr Marchant, seconded by Mr Mcßae, “ That all the words after ‘that’ be struck out.” Carried by 4to 3 votes. It was resolved that the Board should meet on Wednesday the I7th instant, at the Manutahi Hotel, at 9 a.ra., to. inspect roads, and that a special meeting should be held at Mr W. Dale’s office, Carlyle, the next day, to prepare estimates. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, secondecnby Mr Peacock, and carried, “ That Mr Marchant be authorised to get a fallen tree removed from the Hursthonse Road.”
Proposed by Mr Marchant, seconded by Mr Mcßae, and lost by 5 to 2 votes, “ That the Secretary write to the Waste Lands Board pointing out that nearly the whole of the land in the Otoia-Opaku Block, set * apart for settlement on deferred payments, han been taken up, and respectfully asking that the Board will have the remainder of the Opaku Block surveyed for sale on deferred payments.”
