April 30. William Light,- landlord of Bni'rott’s Hotel, laid information against W. O’Corixxor, formerly sergeant of police, Canterbury, for attempting to poison him by putting poison in a glass of liquor. Dr Hector, who analysed the sediment, pronounced it strychnine, and that there was enough in the glass to kill over twenty men.
