- PATEA HARBOR BOARD ELECTION, An election for member for the Wavcrley !' Riding of the above Board, took place on Wednesday last, with the following result : W. A, G. Wiiichcomb .., ... 33 W. Wilson ... 9 George- Si Bridge •., ... 5 At the R.M, Court, Carlyle, yesterday, before C. A. Wray, Esq.., R.M., the petition to upset the election of G. F. Sherwood, as a member for the Patea Harbor Board was considered. The objection was made on the ground “ that clause 9 of ‘ The Regulation of Elections Act, 1876,’ was not carried out as- required by sub-section 1 of clause 49 of the said Act.” Thu petition was signed by W, Hale, James So nth by, and John Whelan. The objection to the election was not allowed. It appears that the petitioners, represented by Mr Hale, had intended to have brought tne objection ffnder section 10 of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1870,” but through an error caused by Mr Hale’s having a copy of the Bill, instead of the Act, the declaration was brought under section 9, and consequently had to be disallowed.
