BRASS BAND.
{To the Editor of the Patea Mail.) Sib,—l S ee a notice in your columns today, calling a meeting of persons interested in forming a Brass Band—headed “ Bona Fide Brass Band.” I, being one of those that have been and still am interested, I would like to know if there was not a subscription started and funds paid for the same purpose some years ago. Also what became of the said funds. Did not Mr Lett convene a public meeting, through your columns, to ascertain if there was or was not sufficient talentinthe district to play the instruments. If so, Mr James South by would supply the instruments. I would further ask the convener or conveners of the said meeting, why they have not signed the advertisement, so that we can form an idea whether it is or is not hona hde. —l am, &c., ONE that has been HAD BEFOEE. [Note. —While unable to answer all the queries of the above correspondent, we agree that they are legitimate questions. We can, however, assure all interested, that the present is a homo fide attempt to form a Band, and the convenors will be enabled to lay, what is deemed, a practicable scheme, before the meeting. All interested and really desiring to see a Band formed should attend the meeting —Editor Mail.]
