PATEA HARBOUR.
(To the Editor of the Patea Mail.) Sir, —A question whldh should be seriously considered throughout the County, is that of obtaining a portion of the twenty-five per cent of the proceeds of the sale of the Waimate Plains, which, according to the way the law exists at the present time, will go to the New Plymouth Harbour Board for the purpose of constructing a breakwater at that place. • When the Act was passed the land in question was part of the Province of Taranaki, but now it is a portion of the Patea County. Therefore, if the settlers throughout the County should consider that it is advisable to obtain a portion of the for improving the Patea River, a petition should be prepared and presented to the House of Representatives next session, asking that certain alterations he made in the Act by which the Patea Harbor Board can obtain a portion of the twenty-five per cent from any lands sold within this County, and if the New Plymouth Harbor Board act wisely, they will raise no objections in the matter. —I am, &c., J W. DALE. Patea, February 14, 1878.
