RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT—CAHLYLF.
Thursday, December G. (Before 0. A. Wray, Esq., H.M., and Dr Croft, Esq., J.P.) Obtaining- Goods under False Pretences. —P. McGinn, charged by W. Overenl, storekeeper, at M'aver'ey, with the above offence, was remanded until next day. Unregistered Dogs.—G. Wilkin, Waverley, was charged by Constable Burrows, with having neglected to register two dugs in his possession. No appearance of defendant. The constable stated that he had cautioned Wilkin, and advised him to get dogs registered, about 14th November.
Finding the dogs still unregistered on the 27th November, lie therefore took out a summons, but had since learned that Wilkin had got some other person to attend to registration of dogs. lie believed the dogs wore now registered but not in the owner's name. The Bench, after careful inquiry into the circumstances, took a lenient view of the charge, and gave judgment for 6s Gd cost of Court and 10s for constable's expenses.
