HAWERA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Hawera Hoad Board was hold on Wednesday last, at four o’clock in the afternoon, at the office of the Secretary (Mr J. Straehan Creig). Members present Messrs Henderson, Goodson, (Vilson, Cowper, and tlie Chairman (Mr Winks). Minutes of meeting- held on the 9th June, read and confirmed. An application was read from Messrs Aikman and Johnston, requesting the Board to erect a bridge over the Tawhiti Stream, as an approach to their land, they having spent over £SO themselves on the road, think it only just that the Board should grant their request After a little discussion it was decided, that the Secretary intimate to Messrs Aikman and Johnston that the Board cannot comply with their wish, insomuch that the proposed site for the bridge is on Native lands, and also there being no legalized road leading thereto. Resolved —That the following works be proceeded with at once, and that tenders for such be called and opened on Wednesday, the 22nd August;— Filling and cutting near Mr Muir's house ; bridge over the Tawhiti, on the Ohangi Rond ; bridge over the Mangapoua, on the Mangapoua Hoad ; the ditch on the West end of the Ohangi Road to be deepened, and a culvert inserted to stretch across the road at the lowest part. Resolved —That Mr John Twigg be cmployed to plan and Jay off the various works required by the Board. Resolved—That the Secretary write to Mr Carrington, notifying to him a grievance that exists in carters from Kctemarac piling up wood and timber on the Ketcmarae road, and which, if allowed to continue, will, no doubt, cause some accident to travellers by that road. Account passed for payment John Twigg, £3. Resolved—That, in future, the meetings of the Board be held at two o’clock, instead of four, as formerly. The Board adjourned.
