CARLYLE HARMONIC SOCIETY
A general meeting of the above Society was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, Bth instant. Business: To receive draft of rules from sub-committee, and to appoint office-bearers, viz., conductor, secretary and treasurer, librarian, and two working members. The rules were passed as read by the secretary, with the exception of a few amended clauses being added to two or three of them. Appreciation of Mr Tennent’s past services were acknowledged by his being unanimously elected president and conductor.
Messrs Taplin and Weiss were nominated as candidates for the office of secretary and treasurer. The former declined, and the latter was therefore declared elected. Mr E. Horner was unanimously appointed librarian. Messrs Taplin, Wood, and Connolly wore nominated as candidates for the two vacancies of committee men. Mr Taplin declined to act, therefore the other two were elected. Mr C. Daseut’s application to become a working member of the Society was read, but was left over to be referred to the committee. The meeting then adjourned.
