DOG TAX.

(To the Editor of the , Patea Mail.) Sin—l am sorry to trouble you, but hoping yon will .give space to the following, seeing the Council appointed their clerk to receive Dog taxes under the Wellington and Taranaki Ordinance, and the said clerk notified that the Dog tax was to be paid within one month. I noticed in reading the minutes of the County Council in your issue to-day, that all the amount for the County collected is some £ls 4s. 1 should think Carlyle, Wavcrley, or Hawera townships would pay that amount each, and as the Chairman of the County Council’s wages is £SO per annum, and he was greatly in favour of the Dog tax, I hope as they have no collector to pay this year, dog owners will pay np to make up his wages.—l am, &c., ONE that will PAY my ONE SHILLING. o
