PATEA EDUCATION BOARD.

The usnnl monthly meeting- of the Patca Education Board was held at the Secretary’s office, on Monday last. Present : Messrs Middlemas (Chairman), Contts, Furlong, Dale, Milroy, Peacock, and Mediae. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from Mr Cromer, threatening to take proceedings to recover an expense incurred in taking Fitzsimmons to gaol. It was decided to refer Mr Crazier to the 11.M. Court. Letter read from W. Douglas, resigning his appointment as a public teacher. Accepted. Proposed by Mr Middlemas, and seconded hy Mr Milroy—“That Mr Dyer’s salary ho increased to £2OO, on condition that in addition to his ordinary work, he teaches the pupil teachers at least four hours a week out of school hours, to the satisfaction of the inspector.” After some discussion on the matter, the following amendment was made by Jllr Contts, seconded hy Mr Furlong, and carried—“ That the, salary of the Carlyle school teacher remain at £IBO per annum, but that he bo paid for teaching pupil

teachers at Inc rate of TH) p. ; r annum, on condition ili.ii.il! .-idhitimi to his ordinal - } - v/iivk, ho teaches Urn pupil teachers Imitro ;i week of school hours, to the saii.sfaction of the inspector.” Imposed by Mr Dale, seconded by Mr Coutts. ami carried —“ Tliat lenders J.ie cam (1 "or the creelion of a school building and cottage at Whenuaknrn, similar to those erected a' Kakaramea.” The Secretary was instructed to write to the Government, informing - them that the Hoard is proceeding with the buildings as advised, and to ask when the mongy would be placed to the credit of the Hoard. Messrs Contts, Dale, and Milroy wore appointed a working committee, to point out the sites, and superintend the erection of school and cottage in the Whcnuakura district. The following accounts were laid before the Hoard :—Town Hoard, ,12 Is 3d ; J. McGregor, 7s 2d ; Jones, .12 12s (hi; Morris and Wright, if 12. It was resolved that all the accounts he paid with the exception of the Town Hoard. The Hoard then adjourned till the sth March, at 10 a.m.
