PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD.
Tiik monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday last, Present ; Messrs Dasent (Chairman), Nicholson, Cower, and Uiddo!l. The minnt.es of the previous meeting wore read and conlirmed. Correspondence—Letter from Chairman of County Council, requesting the co-opera-tion of the Board in the employment of a Comity Engineer.—Letter from Mr M. Campbell, in reference to balance of petty cash hold by bis late father. —Telegram from Mr Duncan, in reference to the expenditure of last year’s rates upon the Okutuku.—Letter from Mr Derrett, re money held by him as late chairman of the Board.—Letter to Mr E. Horner, enclosing £5 for work done on Taranaki line. —Letter to Mr. J. Bowie, informing him of Nos. 1 and 2 contracts being - passed, and also requesting him to complete contract No. 3 within fourteen days. —Letter to Colonial Treasurer, enclosing return of rates for the year 187G.—Letter to the Chairman of County Council, enclosingcopies of valuation and return of rates for 187 G. Mr W. Dale attended the meeting on behalf of Mr Duncan, relative to expending the rates for 187G upon the Okutuku. The matter was held over till the next meeting. Proposed by Mr Nicholson, seconded byMr Gower, and carried—“ That the Piitahi reserve, occupied by Messrs W. and A. Symos, be added to the present rate roll.” Proposed by Mr Nicholson, seconded by Mr Gower, and resolved —“ That Mr James Bowie having failed to comply with the instructions of the Board, a fresh contract he called for by the secretary, and the expense of the same he charged to him.” Accounts passed for payment : —Willis, £1 9s 9d ; Clerk’s salary, I' 3 (is Bd. The Board then adjourned.
