The first proposition put forward was ns follows: —“That this meeting cowlially approves of the boundaries of Patea County as proposed by the Into Government and wmdd strongly deprecate any material departure therefrom.” The above was proposed by Mr T. Middlemas. and was seconded by Mr James Davidson, and carried. A proposition was then made by Mr Bate, and seconded by Mr Hobson, and ca’Eed unanimously—“ That in view of the very great benefits-which a good inland road behind the mountain would confer upon the whole pr wince, the Government he earnestly requested to make ample provision for the immediate construction of the same, from both ends simultaneously.” Tiieii followed a very important resolution —“ That, this meeting wou’d strongly urge upon the Government the necessity of vigorously pushing forwarl the Wanganui- Waitara i ail way.” The above was proposed by Mr Cameron, and seconded by Mr Winks, and carried. It was proposed bv Mr Davidson, and seconded by Mr McLean —“That the Government be requested to place a sum on the Estimates for the erection of a court bouse and lock-up at Tlawora, such buildings to be, erected as early as possible.”—Canied. It was resolved that the Chairman (Jas. Livingstone, Esq., J.P.), should forward copies of the foregoing resolutions to the lion. Major AMcinsori, requesting him to lav them before Messrs Carrington, Kelly, Ballancc, and Bryce, asking their cooperation in securing the same.”
