[per press agency.] LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Wellington, August 31. After some formal business, Dr Pollen made a short statement as to Sir Julius Vogel’s retirement. He then moved an adjournment till the nest day, which, after a short discussion, was agreed to. HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. Wellington, August 31. On the House meeting, a debate arose on the introduction of some Harbor Bills by Sir Julius Vogel, objections being taken on the ground that the proceccding was irregular. Sir Julius Vogel explained that until an announcement of the formation of a new Ministry 7 -, lie necessarily occupied the position of Premier. The discussion was kept up until nearly eight o’clock, without any announcement of any Ministerial changes having been made. September Ist. After the discussion last evening arising out of the fact that the Ministerial announcement bad not been made, Major Atkinson, as soon ns the House met, expressed his regret that he was unable to make to the House the statement he thought lie should have been able to make. Ho said however, that he bad obtained the consent of a number of gentlemen who were ready to form a Government. Their names were —Mr. Whitaker, Sir Done Id McLean, Dr. Pollen, Mr. Richardson, Mr. Bowen, Mr. Ormond, Mr. Hall, Mr. George McLeanThe House then adjourned till Monday, 7.30 p.m. The following gentlemen were sworn in to-day members of .the Executive : Atkinson, Postmaster-General, - Treasurer, and Premier. Whitaker, Attorney-general. Bowen, Justice and Stamps. Sir Donald McLean, Native Affairs. Richardson, Public Works. Ormond,- Land and Immigration;
Pollen, Colonial Secretary. George McLean, Customs. Hall, without port folio. Two last without salary. Messrs Pollen and Richardson will probably retire at the end of the session. It is understood that with sanction of House Vogel goes home immediately as Agent-General. Policy of late Government in all material points will be adherd to with modification. House meets Monday 7 30.
