The sum of £6050 was left by Mr Bernard Chambers to charitable purposes as follows:— Waiapu diocese £3OOO France Home, Eskdale .. .. 500 St. Hilda’s Home, Otane .. 500 Jubilee Blind Institute, Auckland 500 Havelock North Presbyterian Church 500 Havelock North Anglican Church 250 Hastings Branch of the Salvation Army 250 Hastings Plunket Society .. 250 Napier Girls’ Friendly Society 200 New Zealand Bible Society 100 In addition, any sum left over not cxceding £6ooo' is to be devoted to research into plant and animal diseases. The Massey College was suggested as a suitable centre for research. The estate was sworn for probate at under £lOO,OOO.
