Fantails are notably inquisitive, but the impudence of one in a Geraldine orchard the other day will take some beating. The depredations of blackbirds among the owner’s fruit had caused such havoc, that he was forced to resort to shooting some of the pests as a means of protection. While he was taking sight at one, however, with an impertinent chirp, a fantail settled on the barrel of the gun.
