GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING. WELLINGTON, September 9. Tha concluding sitting of the General Council of the New Zealand Christian. Endeavour Union was held this afternoon. There was aome discussion in Tespect to the projected <x)rr«spondenoe for six classes, m the course of which it was urged that different examiners should be appointed representing the respective provinces. The five following appointments were made : — Auckland, Mr W. H. Newton ; Wellington, Rev. W. Shirer ;' Canterbury, Mr R. Gebbie ; West Coast, Rev. J. C. Jamieson; Otago, Rev. J. Knowles Smith. The appointment of the eixth examiner was left to the executive. j A motion was carried regretting that unforeseen circumstances would prevent Dr Chapman and Mr Alexander from | vLsiting New Zealand at the close of their Australian tour. The council expressed plea-sure at the prospect of seeing them here in 1911. Mr C R. N. Mackie was deputed to act ac the council's representative to the C.E. Convention at Agm this year. It was resolved that in three centres other than Wellington efforts should be made to issue a magazine similar to the Wellington C.E. Advocate. The secretary reported that " increase banner" had been Avon, by the North Otago Union. Instructions were issued to the executive to endeavour to form unions in the provinces of Hawke's Bay, Nelson, and Taranaki. It wais recommended that the president should visit. the various parts of the Doininon during his term of office, his expenses to be borne by the unions visited. The eoujicif recdived that the executive ' should make arrangements for suitable insignia to be handed on to each incoming president, beginning with the next convention. It was agreed that, in the event of the constitution pioving unworkable with reference to the place of meeting, the executive be directed to arrange for it being held in Auckland.
