There is a long story by Radolph Lichfield complete in the number, and short stories by wellknown writer* such at Nat Gould, Mrs Baillie Reynolds, Alice Maud Meadows, Captain Shaw, Richard Marsh, • Robert Barr, Keble Howard, C. C. Andrews, J. Bloundelle-Burton, B Heron-Maxwell, etc. The Triad for September is as critical as has been usually the case of late, some of it being somewhat severe. The . illustrations comprise reproductions of some works of art. • . The Dunidin Hctticultural Society s schedule and list of prizes for the coming - season is to hand. Copies should be procured Fnd studied by intending competii tors. A list is given of too much alike varieties of sweetness with an intimation that not more than one of the Bracketed varieties should be shown in the same competition. The annual report of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, printed in pamphlet form, is to hand from Mr P. Barr, the secretary. The statistics appended are interesting and valuable.
