WOODSIDE.
September 4.— The month of August ha a been for the most part open and: mild. Rain fell on 15 da-ys for a total of 2.445 in, the heaviest fall being ,70in on the 31et.
Frost occurred an six nights. The lowest temperature was 27£deg on the 13th, and the highest 70deg on the 30th Farm Work. — Owing to the mild weather the signs of spring are very pronounced, and field and garden are rapidly putting on their coatings of green. Farmers are making- rapid progress, owing, no doubt, to the heavy frosts of June and July. The ground is in capital order, fend most of the wheat has been sown. The milkcarte which had stopped for the winter have resumed operations, and soon they will be running every day. Bazaar. — A bazaar is in progress to raise money to purchase a piano for the school. It 's intended to hold it at the beginning of next month, and the promoters are 6anguine of success. Choir Visit. — The Mosgiel Baptist choir paid a visit to Wcodside on Friday last, and negotiated a most successful programme of musio in the Mission Hall.
