COUNTRY SALES
Messrs Todd Bros, and Co. (Ltd.) report : We m*baiitted fehe late David- L. Black's Crookston property to auction on Friday last, the 20th inst. ; also the live and dead stock belonging to the farm. The weather was beautifully .fine, and there was a very large attendance, buyers being- present from all parts of the surrounding districts. The farm, containing 355 acres of agricultural land, was offered first. Bidding" started at £12, and rose quickly to £15 10s. at which price it was knocked down to the bid of Mr Pi Diamond,- an adjoining own«r. The horses and sheep were in splendid condition. The young hordes especially brought excellent prices, b.ut everything found new owners at good values. The following- are some of the prices realised : 140 2, 4, and 6-tootb -ewes at 17a 7d, 155 full-mouthed ewes at 12s, 259 'hoggets (mixed sexes) at 13* 6d. 7 Ronvney tarns at 14- guineas. s-year-old mare £38, foal by Abbot £35. rising 2-year-old filly by Captain B»TOtrt £50 t bay gelding £31. bay mare £39 105. bay maire £17} hack £o.' The implements, harness* oa£s, chaff, &uodries, etc., also commanded good prices-. -Recently we have made the following private- sales : -On account of Mr W. T. Knowles — Allotment 12, Moa Flat, containing 240 acres, also the stock and implements belonging to the ■property, •to .Mr Alfred Jane. On account Mr John Hauch, jun. — L.i.p. section No. 10, Pomahaka Downs, containing 271 acres, to Mr W. B. Herbert. On account Mr W. B. Herberf— Part section 2, Hock V. Greenvalo district, containing 8 acres, with 5-roomed dwelling and other huildkig3 thereon, to a client. On account Mr H Adams — Four-roomed dwelling situate at Miller's Flat, to Messrs Richardson Bros., of Miller's Flat. On account ISIr A. Merrilees — Leasehold sectioiv of about 6 acres, situate at Island rVocki with 5-rcomed dwelling the yon, to A£r James Henderson. On account -of M'Lelland aTBtl pirty — Their dredge, known as the " Golden Vein " dredge. ' situate on the Molyneux River above Beaumont (for removal), at a very satisfactory price, to Messrs Crawford and pa.rty, of Waikaka Valley.
