WANGANUI v. TARANAKI.

A Wanganui message states that the representative football match Wanganui v. Taranaki was played there on Saturday afternoon under somewhat unfavourable weather conditions. The teams were fairly evenly matched, though the Taranaki team was heavier end cleverer. Wanganui at first attacked fieicely, but after the latter had missed one or two opportunities of s-coring play returned to niid•ield. Then Taranaki attacked, and Stohr failed with a couple of free kicks from likely postions. The spell ended without either side having- c ocured any inaiked advantage. In the second .spell Taranaki \vas awarded a free kick in Wanganiti territory, and Stohr this time succeeded in getting the ball over the bar. For a time play was fast and exciting, neither side gaining the upper hand until an exciting passing rush by Dustin, M'l>od (Taranaki), and Campion allowed the latter to score near the corner. A moment later Signal took a free kick awarded Wanganui at half-way, and secured a goal. A htrla later Stohr, follow ing up an advantage given Taranaki, made a lightning run, and scored near the corner. The try was converted. Presently Stohr kicked another goal from a jwnalty, and the game ended shortly afterwards with the Taranaki team (which had had on the whole quite the best of the game) 14 points to Wanganui's o.
