WAIKOUAITI v. PALMERSTON.
The fifth match of the present series be- [ tween Waikouaiti and Palmerston was played on Saturday afternoon at Waifcouaiti before a large gathering of spec- ' tators, who followed the game with the closest interest. The ground was not in ; good condition, being- very soft in places, and the ball was difficult to* -handle. The game was 1-jeenly contested throughout, and 'there was little to choose between the teams. Kerr potted a neat goal for Waikouaiti in the first spell, and M'Taggart intercepted a pass from a Pahxierston player, and after a fine run down the field scored a well-deserved try. The visitors j were attacking strongly at the call of time. The game ended : Waikouaiti, 7 points; Palmerston, 6 points. Mr Hobson, of Dunedin, controlled the game in a I capable and impartial manner. The position of the teams for the district banner now is that Waikouaiti has won three matches and Palmerston two, while one game remains to be played.
