The Manawatu Daily Times publishes further particulars of the conference of the Shearers' Union, which sat for nearly a week at Timaru and dealt with matters of great importance to the industry. It was lesohed to federate the unions of the Marlborough, Canterbury, and "Wellington districts, and to thus form a New Zealand 1 Shearers' Union, which will aim at equalising shearing- agreements, as fji • • • local conditions permit, and securing .rformily of awards. Theie wa^ consiucral le debate upon the question of the varj ing shearing conditions and rates, and an effort will be made to gradually harmonise these.
