SHEEP AND RAM FAIR.

POOR PRICES

AUCKLAND, February 12.

The first sheep and ram fair of the season in Auckland was hold at the Remuera yards by Messrs A. Buckland and Sons yesterday, there being some 7600 sheep and 600 rams yarded. On account of the dry weather the stock was, generally speaking, in lower condition than that at last year's fair. Low-conditioned sheep sold at about 3s 6d per head, and other classes weie also a. shade lower in price than during last, season. Lincoln, Romney. and Leicester rams were in good demand, but very few bidders were forthcoming for Down rams. On behalf of Mr C. T. Barriball. 12 twotooth Lincoln ewes were sold to Mr J. E. Leach at £2 2e per head, and 10 other-, to the same purchaser at £2 5s 3d. Mr W. J. Hockin's 12 ew<?ts of the same breed vei o sold to Mr Sehodewein at £1 3s. Mr Gill's two and fourth-tooth ewe' to the number of 40 were knocked down to Mr Bell at £1 Is 6d. Other classes brought up to £1 13 6d. In Lincoln ram« Messrs Selby Bros, sold 12 at prices ranging from ligs to 7;gs. Shropshire rams sold at £1 8s to £3 3s, Romney Marsh at £2 12s 6d and £7 7s (tho latter price being obtained by Mr J. C!c*e), and English Leiccsters at £2 2s to £4 4s. Wethers ftwo-looth) brought up to 19s 3d. Lambs ranged in price from 3s to 18s.
