A GROWING MENACE. At Saturday's meeting of the Horowhenua County Council, Cr. McLeavey stated that an informal deputation waned on him at Oliau a few days ago and asked what steps the Council was taking in regard to noxious weeds. Cr. Harkness had mentioned at thai day'- meeting thai there was

We can only notify the Department.
Cr. Harkness: Tiie onus is on the Government and the Crown lands aie the worst. The Government takes ihe matter oi control out oi the hands, of the local bodies and does nothing itself.
cr. Broadbelt said his district was bad as regards ragwort, especially along the Koputaroa stream. In one place there was between -»0 and 50 acres oi ragwort, arid he would like to know ix the oWner had been notified to cut it.
