Horowhenua Council on sa.tur.lay staling that the question of ilie road from Foxton to Whirokino bridge had been given some consideration, as it was in very bad condition, the drain being full of water made the foundation so soft, that the road would not. carry the heavy traffic imposed on it. The question was whether it would not be better to divert die road and run it along the boundary between Mr Nye's and Mr Gower’s fand. meeting No. -2 Line, and returning to die present road by that, line. This would enable the Council ho m:j[ke the foundation a good one. and it would cost much less to maintain. The Manawatu Council desired to know before going further if Horowhenua was prepared v to. join in the work, as it was important to all local bodies in the neighbourhood that the rond should he kept open to the port of Foxton. Cr. Monk: T was so astounded on reading the letter that T have no comment to offer. The County Clerk (Mr Goldsmith): | You are knocked speechless? The Chairman: Yes, 1 am knocked speechless. A councillor: I think we should simply receive the letter. Cr. Ryder. Is that the road going Into Foxton? The Chairman: Yes. We eould tell the Manawatu County that vie have some roads over here that we would like some assistance in repairing. Cr.
