The Shannon News of to-day reports that Mr Edward Newman, who has represented Manawatu in Parliament for a number of years, has intimated hi* intention of withdrawing from politics, j and will not be a candidate at the com- j ing election. The Reform Party is now considering the selection of a sue- ! eessor as candidate for Manawatu. j Two other candidates are definitely an- ! nounced. viz., Mr W. Murdoch. Mayor t of Shannon, in the Liberal interest-, j and Mr F. D. Whibley, of Foxton. the j selected Labor candidate.
