Mr if. Ct. Hit vies (town clerk) who has been ou a visit to Blenheim, returns to Otaki to-morrow morning.
We have it on reliable authority that Mr P. 11. Ilolliugs will not contest the Mastcrton scat at the coming election-
Mr Gerard Knox, son of Mr and Mrs H. Ivno.v, of Otaki, is at present on holiday in Otaki, alter having returned in the “Chatham” from a cruise of Fiji and Suva. After a stay in this district he will proceed to Sydney.
An impressive reception was given to Sir Maui and i.ady Poniarc- at Waikanae on Saturday, when fifteen representative* of different tribes from Petone, the liutt, and from the northern districts were present, as well as a large gathering of Maori friends. The meet - big took place at the Maori House. A. number of speeches were delivered. Later an adjournment was made to Mr Parata's house, where a very fine luncheon was enjoyed. The Maori speakers expressed much satisfaction at the honour conferred on their race through Sir Maui Pomare.
