Weraroa, Although the Old Boys won decisively against Weraroa on Saturday the game was by no means uninteresting. Throughout the play was of a high standard, the display of the winners being much above the ordinary. In the scrum work they excelled while the backs played splendidly and made no mistakes, Early in the game Udv, from a free kick, seat the ball over the goal, while shortly after Jacob, who was u host in himself, fooled his opponents, cut in, fell, and then reached the line, scoring a well-deserved try. Hakaraia, who transferred it to Puna, after which Ilapi secured it and scored amidst applause. Udv failed to convert, 9—o. Afterwards Udy centred by a nice kick, Kehu secured and passed to Takerei. who scored. Udy missed the goal. 12—0. This ended the first spell. For the Old Boys all the forwards played splendidly, the veteran Kehu perhaps being the pick of a fine lot. In the back division there was little to choose between. All played well, their clean, crisp passing being admired. Collier, Broughton, and Puki were the pick of the Weraroa forw-ards, •while Waken-M and J. Broughton were the best of the backs. The gumc between the Otaki juniors i and Kuku was a good one, and fine play predominated. The home team, who won B—o.8 —0. scored a try ( converted) and kicked a penalty goal, while for the visiters Newlands scored a try and Subritzky kicked a penalty goal. Mr Horo Karauti gave every satisfaction as refereo. The Otaki, Club will hold ‘gym’ practice on Tuesday night at the Y.M.C.A. rooms. A full muster is required. The takings at Saturday’s football match totalled £3 12s 6d, more than last Saturday whon the erowd was considerably larger.
