OTAKI THEATRE.

“HER LORD AND MASTER.” “ilrr Lord and Master,” a photoplay made from the famous comedy drama by Martha Morton, as an Alice Joyce Vitagraph production will be tho j chief offering at the Otaki theatre on j Wednesday night. The Martha Alori ton masterpiece in itself makes a strong drawing card, and tin- acting of Alice Joyce. the radiant young Vitagraph star, in the stellar role, intensities the interest. The comments made during i the showing and at the conclusion of j the production does credit to the fea- ; ture. Alice Joyce is altogether lovely in the role of Indiana Stillwater, the ebullient and rather headstrong only daughter of an American millionaire railroad magmate, and later as the subdued and demure wife of an English viscount. The single flash of rebellion, | the flaring up of the former untamed i spirit of the American girl of the West | is wonderfully carried out by the star, j who, without doubt, does the best work j in this feature she has ever done. | “HALF A CHANCE.” v The starring vehicle at the theatre on .Saturday is “Half a Chance” starj ring Mahlon Hamilton and Lillian Rich. An adaption of tho well-known j novel by Frederick S. Is ham the screen | version makes one of the finest dramas j ever screened. The story tells of a i man who was imprisoned for a crime of which he is innocent. Escaping, be is ! wrecked on an island. There his only : companions are a set of law books. Years later he is rescued and returning to New York he practices as a cri- , rainal lawyer. Then romance comes ■ into his life in the shape of a beautiful j girl. The leading feminine role is i played by Lillian Rich and a notable cast.
