PERSONAL.

The death took place at Levin on Sunday of Mr dames Morgan, aged 59 years. Mr H. At more, M.P., last week made a walking tour from Blenheim to Christchurch. The retirement on sux>erannuation of Captain Post, of the Government steamer Tutunokai is gazetted, Mr Harold Corrigan, late of Otaki, lias been appointed Secretary of the Carterton Golf Club.

The services of Miss Teresa McEnroe have been secured for the Native concert to be held at Otaki on the 2uth April.

At the last meeting of the Wellington Justices’ Association a motion of condolence was passed to the widow and family of the late Mr W. Tompsitt, who for many years was a leading J.P.

Mr W. Waters, who reported on an electrical scheme for Otaki, has been

appointed resident engineer to the Manatvatu-Oroua Electric Power Board at a salary of £750 per annum.

Sixty-six years ago on Monday last. Premier Massey was born at Limavady in the North of Ireland. It is 28 years since he was elected to the House of Representatives, and for the last 10 years he lias been Premier. The funeral of the late Mr Alfred Smart, who died at tlie Otaki hospital, took place at Otaki yesterday. Deceased. who was usually known as Mr Penticost, was lor a time a resident, of Weraroa. and was 64 years of age. A number of friends gathered at the residence of M.r and Mrs H. H. Ollivor, Wacrenga Road, on Monday evening to wish the former “many happy returns.” Those present spent a most enjoyable time, a euchre tournament being the chief attraction. Prizes wero won by Mrs Albert Smith and Mr F. G. Davies, the latter winning after a draw with Mr Smith, while Mrs Broad-

wav received the consolation prize and Mr Harold Sid del Is the “booby.”

The death occurred at Palmerston N. on Sunday of Mrs Elizabeth J. Carter. There survive her three daughters and five sons—Mrs E. L. Ashley (Mangatninoka), Mrs Geo. H. Stiles and Miss E. E. Carter (Palmerston North); and Messrs I. J. Carter (Patea), F, J. Carter (Ohakuue). S. W. Carter (Shannon), W. S. Carter (Palmerston North), and

I. H. Carter (Waikato). In addition to the above there are 33 grandchildren and 12 great greatchildren.
