THEFT AT WAIKANAE.

J ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY. ! A sitting of the Otaki Police Court I was held on Monday afternoon, when j George Mervyn Collins was charged on the information of the police with the theft, at Waikanae on February 25th, of a brace and two bits, of the value of £2, the proporty of A. A. Brown. Accused pleaded guilty. Constable Satherley stated that on the day in question accused was working for Mr Brow'ii. The brace and bits were left where some work was ! being done. On Monday they were missing, and were subsequently recovered in accused’s house. Nothing was previously knoivn against accused, who was a married man with a family. The Constable added that there was a- good deal of petty thieving going on at Waikanae, and it would have to be stopped. The Bench lined accused £2, a fortnight being allowed in which to pay. Messrs J. R. Bills and C. Kilsby were the presiding justices. -. j
