MARDI GRAS FOR OTAKI.
TO BE HELD ON THE PACECOURSE. meeting of persons interested m a Murdi Gras for Otaki, for the purpose of raising money to improve me rest resort, was held in tko Council Chambers on Friday night, when there was a good attendance. Several apologies jv-orc received from persons who were ■willing to assist but who were unable to attend the meeting. His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Brandon) presided and pointed out that the idea of a jnardi gras had emanated from some ladies. Personally, he thought such a function would bo a good thing, and saw no reason why it should not be a great success.
