MOUNT HECTOR TOURIST CLUB.

A meeting of the above was held at Greytown last week, when the resignation, of Mr Mark Maxton, as secretary,' was. received, and Mr E. Larkin appointed to the vacancy. It was resolved that the central hut near Mount Hector be named the "Girdlestone" hut, also that £IOO be handed to the p.W. Department, to be expended as arranged. Sub-committees were set up to arrange for packing material up,the track and to draft rules. A vote of condolence was passed to Mrs AVorkman and family in their loss through the death of Mr W. Workman, who was a most active member of tin Club. It was reported that the Governmen! was putting up a suspension bridge over the Tauheremkau river, anothei room on the Mount Alpha but, and intended to erect two more shelters en route. The track itself is to receive 11 thorough overhaul, so that a horse can be ridden from Greytown to Otaki. This, it is hoped, will be done this summer.
