OVER THE RANGES.
A PARTY FROM GREYTOWN. Messrs Hunter, Jcrram, Joosten and Wilson, members of ' the Wellington Tramping Club, arrived in Otaki last Tuesday, having journeyed from AVoodside (Greytown) over the ranges. Arrived at Woodside on Saturday in fine weather, they immediately proceeded to Tauhcrenikau, then on to Alpha the next day. Seeing a change in the weather was likely they lost nc time and on Wednesday morning arrived at the Porks. On approaching Mount Dennan the party encountered foggy weather; and the track was no! so clearly defined as on the Wairarapa side, but, nevertheless, was regarded as being very fair. The huts wen found in good order and well provi sioned, but there were no signs of the Government party, which had intended to ..start work well over a week ago Mr Wilson with a party will probabl; be again crossing within ten days' time.
